Directors, Production Team, Actors Needed for Evening of Short Plays
Do you love directing but don’t have time for a big project?
Have you always wanted to direct a play and never had the chance?
Spoken Space Theatre is looking for directors for An Evening of Short Plays by Sam Post.
The show will be presented by Spoken Space Theatre in the LGAC Black Box February 21-23.
We’re looking for directors. Directing experience not required.
Theatre experience and enthusiasm is!
You’ll have the opportunity to pick a short play, pick your cast, rehearse it, and bring it to the stage.
Shows will rehearse individually, on their own, until we all come together the week of the production.
Come sign up at our first production meeting at the LGAC at 405 N. Lee Street on Thursday, December 20, at 7pm.
Actors and production techs are also welcome to come sign-up.
We will need between 4 and 8 directors, 10 to 20 actors, a production manager and team.
The evening will consist of the following 10-minute plays:
Ignition Switch
Love Poem
Responsibility
In the Ductwork
In the Waiting Room
Poor Jud is Daid
Nice Name for a Sky
Easy Credit
A video of Poochie, the play
Video of the Thursday night of the run.
Thanks to Jon Taylor for shooting this.
Run time is 1hr, 23 minutes.
Great review, sold out run
Poochie opened on Oct. 19 with almost a full house (six empty seats). Thanks this to this review, letter-to-the-editor, and generous word of mouth, we added seats and turned people away the other three nights of the run.
Want to see it?
Tickets are $10 at the door.
(Oct. 19-22) Wednesday through Saturday. 7:30pm
LGAC Black Box — 405 N. Lee St., Salisbury, NC
Poochie — October 19-22
Poochie represents the launch of Spoken Space Theatre.
It’s a new play by Sam Post.
Justin Dionne is directing.
Performance will be in the black box theatre at The Looking Glass Artist Collective, October 19-22, at 7:30 pm.
Poochie is about a family dealing with Alzheimer’s Disease. As we see Edna forget her life, Ruth learns to manage the person she’s becoming without the memories she and her mother have shared.
Her challenges caring for her mother are now showing up in her other primary life relationships — those with her husband, daughter, brother, and dog.
After the shows, for those who want to stay and participate in the conversation, an expert on Alzheimer’s Disease will facilitate a talk back about what families are dealing with and what resources are available to them.
